Starting a business is one of the scariest and most dangerous undertaking in our modern times. The rate of business mortality is so high that it is a wonder it has not been declared an international business disaster.
8 out of every 10 businesses must die.
This is a sad and unfortunate fact that repeats its self over and over again. History is littered with stories of those who tried and failed to start a successful business and it’s also complimented by the few stories of those who tried and succeeded. Those who succeed are so few and unexpected that they are considered heroes, mentors, coaches and leaders to the rest of us.
But what do they do that is so unique that 80% of the rest of us don’t get?
Are there secrets on how to start a successful business that are not available to the majority us, that are hidden and only summoned when one of the greats wants to go into business?
I think so!!
But it’s not what most people think. The secrets are not literal.
After many years and a few failures trying to crack the code myself, I have come to realize there is a secret, but it is so glaringly obvious that when understand it, you wonder why you never noticed it before and even go ahead to question its applicability.
So what is the secret that the successful 20% use to succeed over and over again.
The secret is not money, it’s not opportunity, it’s not education, it’s not race, it’s not gender and it’s not physical ability.
So what is it? Well it is unfortunately not one thing and it certainly is not easy; It’s a very careful blend of customer attraction, money management, people management and goal setting and achievement strategies that only work together in very specific combinations.
This is the secret and it’s no wonder why most people cannot do it; it’s very hard work to learn how to do this and become good at it.
Some people are born without much in terms of money but a lot in these skills. They then move to start small and gradually through careful management of their money, grow to one day control fortunes. For most of us however, we have to find a way to learn all these and internalize it until it becomes second nature.
So now that you know this, what does it mean?
