This is why I hate my business;

  1. As soon as I walk into the business, I’m greeted by a wave of undone tasks from the previous day and quietly curse at my hard headed employees, I promise myself to fire them one of these days.
  2. Reading the paper is no longer interesting. I came in to sell, sell, sell but not enough customers are walking in and if they do, they come in waves and we are so rushed we end up messing up the orders and the packaging.
  3. It’s now almost midday and the complaints have started rolling in. The customers claim that some items are missing and other items are damaged and they are demanding for replacements or refunds. I really hate my business.
  4. Some government officials from some department have just walked and apparently I have an issue with compliance.
  5. Some of the stock is almost running out and the silly supplier is nowhere to be seen. Of course every time I call they are somewhere stuck in a traffic Jam.
  6. But wait, even if they do arrive, do I have enough money at hand to pay for the delivery? Oh well, I’ll blame them for being late and pay the balance later.
  7. Now that there is not too much to do, my employees are busy telling tales to each other and laughing all the way. But I still have to pay them… it’s not their fault we don’t have enough customers to keep them busy, its mine.
  8. It’s evening now and we have to close up. Did I make a profit or loss? How can I tell? I do seem to have more money than I had in the morning so I must have made a profit, right? Well, I’ll find out after my audit if I ever get to it.
  9. My employees don’t seem bothered, their cheques comes in any way, plus, a job where you don’t have too much to do seems heaven sent. They can’t wait to come back in tomorrow.
  10. I’m not so sure I want to see tomorrow, but I have to keep hopes up that some miracle will happen to this business.
  11. I lock up and wander home. Lord, I hate my business, please get me a new one tomorrow, I pray.

I hate my business – Pragma Insight

The I hate my business feeling is not unique to me, in fact, this is the story of many business owners. This was me for several years as a business owner. I hated my business but I’m proud to say I have come a long way and finally understand what it was exactly that I was doing wrong.

Some business owners put up with this status quo until it improves and others quit and go back to being the merry employees they once hired.

It does not have to be an impossible or horrific experience. There is a way out, so, don’t submit to employment, just yet. If you have a great business idea, you only need a great strategy and a partner who understands exactly what you are going through and has the wisdom to get you out.

I managed to get out of this grind and now own and control my profitable business by understanding;

  1. How to organize my business through systems and processes to reduce and eliminate errors and mistakes from the business activities.
  2. How to get many happy and satisfied customers to walk in the door, all day long.
  3. How to understand what needs to be done in the business and get enough people to do it so I don’t have unnecessary employees and a bloated wage bill.
  4. Which simple, and easy to understand, numbers to monitor easily to read my business and understand if I’m turning a profit or a loss.
  5. How to have and manage a, happy to work, workforce.
  6. How to build and grow profits and create wealth.
